At Draw an Idea our mission is to empower kids using doodles, self-growth and visual thinking principles. We use these techniques to provide kids with the necessary skills they need to think more effectively and creatively, to solve problems more efficiently, to make decisions more intelligently, to manage their emotions proactively, as well as to overcome fear, raise self-esteem, set goals, and learn how to handle conflict with an open mind and a solution focused mindset. All of these skill areas are essential for life. In fact, they are essential for living a healthy, well-rounded and optimal adult life in the best possible way. About the Workshops
The visual thinking workshops are currently under development. We plan to launch them in 2016.
The visual thinking workshops are designed for kids between the ages of 10 and 14 years. However, workshops for younger kids may be made available at a later time.
The visual thinking workshops are designed to help kids to think more effectively and creatively, to solve problems more efficiently, to make decisions more intelligently, to manage their emotions proactively, as well as to overcome fear, raise self-esteem, set goals, and learn how to handle conflict with an open mind and a solution focused mindset. Our focus is on helping kids develop critical life skills that will serve them for a lifetime.
There are no examples available at this time. However, we will post some examples of the types of visual thinking techniques we use and the exercises we undertake on the blog when they are made available.
Workshop duration will vary depending on the topic and on the time available. We are planning to conduct short 1.5 to 3 hour workshops during the school term and also full day workshops over consecutive days throughout the school holidays. These longer workshops allow us to explore each topic in much more detail.
We endeavour to keep the class sizes small in order to cater for the individual needs of each student. The larger the class size, the more staff will be available to assist during the workshop.
The visual thinking workshops will be held in Melbourne, Australia. Some workshops will be held at local schools throughout the school year, and we will hold more intensive workshops during the school holidays at a yet undisclosed location in Melbourne.
Costs for workshops conducted at local schools will most likely be covered by each individual school. Costs for workshops conducted outside the school environment over the holiday period will be disclosed at a later time.
Yes, we will be providing scholarships for disadvantaged children. We want to provide all kids no matter what their social-economic status with an equal opportunity to learn critical life skills through the process of visual thinking. Everyone certainly deserves an equal chance to create a better future. Stay tuned as more details about these scholarship programs will be made available in 2016.
Yes, visual thinking workshops will also be made available for adult learners. These workshops will be conducted in Melbourne, Australia. However, we are also planning to launch an online visual thinking course that will be made available to those living outside Australia. Stay tuned for more information.
